Nokia to enter netbook market

Posted by 09F-RHeale on Aug 31, 2009 in Just Cool, Uncategorized

This is an article I came across while browsing for my international business class.  The article is about Nokia entering the laptop netbook market.  Nokia’s profit margins have dropped over the last couple quarters, and now they are entering the PC industry where margins are traditionally “razor-thin”.  Why?  They are hoping to win people over with 12 hours of battery life and continuous connectivity.  They chose to use Windows 7 operating system for the netbook, which surprises those who expected them to use Linux.

Robbie Heale-Experience

Posted by 09F-RHeale on Aug 30, 2009 in Experience

Hey, my name is Robbie Heale.  I don’t have much experience as far as web page designing goes.  I took a course that used HTML in high school, but I don’t remember much of anything.  I use the internet mostly for researching (through Google of course), and keeping in touch with friends through facebook. I’ll graduate in fall ‘10, and I’m hoping to accomplish a lot until then and after.

Internet Turns 40

Just came across this great article on MSNBC (courtesy of AP). It outlines the history of the internet as well as some barrier to its continued growth. Worth taking 2 minutes to read:

Posted by 09F-TaylorAdams on Aug 28, 2009 in Experience

Hi-

My web experience is very limited to what I do on Facebook and MySpace.  I do like looking around on the internet for new backgrounds and codes to do cool things.  Im not a big Facebook person at all and go days without even checking mine because I know that I could be sucked in and addicted like all my firends!

Apple Confirms Anti-Malware Added to 'Snow Leopard'

Posted by 09F-HeidiRepinecz on Aug 28, 2009 in Experience

I’m Heidi Repinecz and I will be graduating May 2010.  Originally I’m from New York.  I enjoy learning new things and meeting new people.  I have only completed MIS 3673 (Visual Basic) but I enjoyed it.  I picked this article not because I’ve ever owned a Mac, but I do like their interface.  However, it is interesting to see that they are insterting anti-malware into their system when it seemed like before they usually said they didn’t need it like Windows.  Windows may not be the only operating system with risks like malware anymore.  The link is here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2352102,00.asp

Posted by 09F_KrystalArmstead on Aug 27, 2009 in Experience

Hello, my name is Krystal Armstead. I am a senior, majoring in MIS, graduating in December (YESSSSSSS). I transfered from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. I took a 3 year break from college when I got pregnant my junior year. When I transferred to ECU back in 2009, they wouldn’t except 64 credits! I ended up taking a year and a half of classes that I’ve taken already! I’m ready to graduate! And I’m going to do my best to get an A in this class!
